Yes - no one is saying that the defense needed the offense to control the clock.
No one is saying that the defense was worn down by the end of the game because the offense couldn't stay on the field. It isn't the offenses fault that they couldn't sustain drives and increase BYU's time of possession. Somehow it's the defenses fault that BYU couldn't sustain drives and maintain time of possession.

3 points from 6 possessions in the second half gets no mention. Just that the defense didn't give the offense more opportunities.

I was as frustrated as anyone at the defenses inability to stop CC's offense in the 2nd half. But it's crazy to me that the defense is blamed for the loss - this was a whole team fail. With the offense deserving at least as much blame as the defense - if not more.
