I’ve been trying to get exactly this across for a long time. TOP could be a means to some small list of potential ends,
but people keep treating it as the end itself.
Honestly, I think it’s most real benefit is (ironically in this context) that it rests your defense, which suffers more often from exhaustion at the end of games than offense does.
Also, your offense has more direct control over TOP than your defense does.
Incredibly overrated stat.

TOP is the single most overrated stat in football. This has been repeatedly debunked and people still cling to it
