I spun this convo out because it's not specific to Kenobi or Star Wars, but is also part of Netflix, Hulu, Apple tv, Paramount ... all of them. The business model is to make a couple things that are really great to get you to sign up ... and then create 80% of the content to be mediocre ... just good enough that you will watch it, but not good enough that you'll want to rewatch it or that they'll need to invest very much money into it. Good enough that you think it's worth staying subscribed ... but just barely there.
Kenobi was the same ... it was ok, but not really very fulfilling. You look back and wonder if you wasted your time. I feel that way with a lot of shows.
It's disappointing as a consumer, and I'm not sure how we fix this. Streaming, I feel, has just increased this as the metrics for success aren't awards or box office receipts but creating stuff at the cheapest price that will be just enough to keep people from remembering to unsubscribe. Also there's too many platforms so the rush to create more content means less time/money spent on each individual project.
