37% didn't stick around. And multiple of those guys are just barely entering their first year playing for the team now that they are back from missions. Mitchell, Maile, Daley, and Roberts. Thankfully there were some studs in that class like Freeland (almost guaranteed NFL pick next year) and Keanu Hill (regular contributor last year and likely a starter this year). Then there are several guys that just haven't quite panned out like Brown, Christensen, and Udo (if Udo can return to pre-injury form, he has a chance to be a solid player for us). Those 3 have been ok, but they will likely be buried on the depth chart this year. If Conover develops into a quality starter and Roberts, Maile, and Daley can live up to their potential, then Freeland and them will be the reason this class isn't considered a bust.
It's also interesting that the 2019 class was rated #77 in the country. The 2018 class was rated #78, but it was a home run by BYU standards. That class had Zach Wilson, Gunner Romney, Dallin Holker, Connor Pay, Campbell Barrington, Malik Moore, Dax Milne, and Tyler Allgeier. That's 8 starters, BYU's all time greatest running back, our first wide receiver drafted since Austin Collie, and our highest drafted player ever in Zach Wilson. It goes to show what a crap shoot recruiting can be sometimes.
