Had the oil changed on a 15 year old Escalade. Started driving from Jiffy Lube to Home Depot, about 2 miles. After about a minute the oil light came back on. I assumed they hadn’t reset the oil change counter. Got about halfway/ about a mile and it stalled and wouldn’t start again.
Contacted Jiffy Lube to tell them. Manager drove to the car to look at it. I don’t remember if it was on site where it stalled or at the repair shop they towed it to, but they determined they had sliced a hole with the filter tool and the oil had almost immediately completely drained.
We paid about $4,000 for the truck a year or more before the incident (a few years ago ). The total for repairs, car rental, tow, etc. was well over $9,000. Much more than twice what I paid for the truck. Happy to get a new engine.
