reconciled. Take, for instance, the marines. Ship based army soldiers. Only Marines now also have their own jets. If we created an entirely new division of army soldier for ship based soldiers, why didn't we create a new division for ship based air force guys?
Carrier based pilots are Navy. Seems we'd want to have one division training all of our pilots, but no. The Navy wanted full control over anybody on their ships. Which makes sense, as they don't need anybody on their ships who doesn't answer to their commands.
But if the Navy can manage an air force on their own, why do they still need the Marines? Can't they also manage their own soldiers, too? And if the Navy has an air force, and the air force has an air force, why do the Marines need their own air force? Cause they get special assignments and they don't want any delays in giving commands to their pilots.
The only division shortchanged is the Army. They get neither an air force nor a navy under their own command.
