My home teaching companion in the 90s was at top gun in San Diego
He would tell me all kinds of stories about intercepting Russian migs over Alaska and chasing Iranians around the mideast. Was told to shoot if he felt it was needed. Landing on a aircraft carrier in choppy water, zero visibility, and storms is very very tough to do. I doubt there is any difference in skill between af and navy, just different missions and roles.
