Welcome. A few things
I can’t speak much to SLC night life so I’ll skip that. Hopefully you’ll get some good tips from the board.

Having lived in SEC country and visited Tiger Stadium on multiple occasions, I will tell you the tailgating scene is TINY compared to what you’re used to. There are some tailgaters here and on BYU Twitter though. It does exist—hopefully someone will hook you up.

Cougar Canyon is not exactly a tailgating scene but it’s not bad either. Live music, tons of food options and other activities. Definitely worth checking out. The pre-game Cougar Walk holds its own as well. Should draw a big crowd for Arkansas

What you do have in abundance is outdoor activities and scenery. Fall colors in the mountains will be about 1-2 weeks past their peak, but there are still gorgeous areas. I recommend driving the Alpine Loop as you head down to Provo (there is a good restaurant at Sundance but you’ll probably need reservations) and maybe finding some places to explore in Little Cottonwood Canyon while you’re in Salt Lake. Near the valley floor you’ll probably find some fall colors still popping (Temple Square should be very pretty). Maybe hike the Y on game day.

You could probably get away with discreetly drinking on campus, but alcohol is frowned on and could in fact be enforced in the stadium. Go to the Ute board for tips on drinking at an away BYU game if you’re dead set on it (mostly kidding but not entirely) but don’t particularly recommend it.

BYU fans are generally very welcoming, particularly to big schools that don’t often make it to Provo. Don’t be shy about engaging them. You can always find knuckleheads in every fanbase of course, but be a good guest and you can expect to be treated well. I’m planning on being there and might even have one of my sons with me who served over half of his LDS mission in the Little Rock area. You’re welcome to boardmail me.

I would recommend sitting in the visitor section. They’ll bring you free ice cream or some other treat at some point. There really is not a terrible seat in the stadium. If you can get a great seat among BYU fans, again, engage them, be friendly. Cheer for your team, and as long as you’re not dissing the Cougs or being obnoxious, I’m confident you’ll be treated well. If we’re having a bad year and/or Arkansas kills us, people may get a bit saltier – – like anywhere else.

Have a great trip. I have the Cougs beating the Razorbacks in a barn burner. Hoping to see a great game.
