To Utah Fans: Why I, as a BYU fan, am not dooming-and-glooming alongside you...
1. I don't believe that the B1G and SEC have an exclusionary playoff vision like you do. If you look at the last round of negotiations, it was the ACC and PAC that were against playoff expansion. And that was primarily the PAC that was too high and mighty to play in a larger playoff alongside the smaller, less worthy schools. I think at the end of the day, common sense will prevail. And common sense is that a more inclusive playoff will generate more money for everyone, including the Big Two. Just use the March Madness tournament as an example. Everybody loves it. It wouldn't be nearly as cool if it was a small 4-8 team tournament for only 2 conferences. If that was the format, they'd lose a ton of interest, and viewership of their playoff would go down drastically. I think the Big Two will want more of their teams in the playoff, but I think they understand that they can get more interest in their playoff and more money for themselves by including others.

2. BYU has been at a huge financial disadvantage in comparison against the big dogs since the dawn of time. This has always been the case. BYU's Independence ESPN distribution is estimated to be in the $6-8 million range, and that was a step up from what they got in the MWC. Meanwhile the SEC has been raking in $50+ million. Now moving to the B12, BYU will command more than $20 million. And I'm supposed to now be mortally concerned about schools making $100 million? That's a smaller ratio discrepancy than what I've been used to and dealing with for the past forever.

3. I think with BYU being the school that it is, more money won't necessarily get us to be a top contender. With who we are as a school and the honor code, we are who we are. I think by in large, the kids who want to come play at BYU will come to BYU, and the kids who don't won't. NIL changes this more than how much a school makes with their media contract, but thus far, BYU has proven to be use NIL as a net-positive.

4. BYU has won a national championship, despite this big financial and resource discrepancy. And they did it without a playoff. You can't tell me that with an expanded playoff (which I again think is a certainty), that BYU couldn't pull it off again. No, I do not think that this is the end of college football for schools outside of B1G and SEC.

5. It's kind of fun to watch our rival squirm about their conference situation a little bit, after everything I dealt with from the Utah fans in my life for the last twelve years. It's kind of fun to watch them deal with the reality that their conference that they've touted as their superiority chip against BYU for the last twelve years is a sinking titanic. And the reality that there is a legitimate scenario where Utah goes back to MWC. I see Utah to the B1G as a pipe-dream that just simply will not happen. I think best case scenario for Utah is that they join BYU in the B12, but even if that is the case, it'll be fun to watch them suck up to BYU and the B12 schools, especially after the mightier-than-thou attitude that we've dealt with from Utah and their fans. And at the end of that scenario (which again, i think is Utah's best case scenario), we'd get one of college football's best conference rivalries back, which would be kind of cool. Other scenarios involving Utah in a demoralized PAC with MWC schools, or Utah being forced to just striaght up join the MWC, or Utah going independent, or Utah joining the now toothless-AAC, would be fun to watch.

6. 26-17. And because y'all decided you were too good to play us, that'll be on the scoreboard until 2024.
