worried about damage you can't see it will be hard to tell on a carbon frame. More serious damage you'll be able to squeeze an area and feel that it is much easier to deform than an undamaged area.

To be honest if the bike appears to be well maintained I wouldn't sweat it. Carbon frames have come a long way and in general are pretty robust compared to just 10 years go.
