Right now, the Big12 and PAC are “P5”. No “new” conference is going to be gifted that label, even if it kills off two P5 conferences in its creation.

The logic is sound, but logic and politics don’t always work together.

I'd argue that was more about kicking teams out of 1 conference than about combining parts of 2
