Talking to media people in Spokane that I'm friends with, they're thinking it's
not only possible, but likely, that WSU and Oregon State end up outside looking in.
This is unprecedented since the 1950s basically for a team to be on the 'in' crowd and in a power conference, only to find themselves on the outside.
The only realistic path is a full-fledged merger between the Big 12 and the Pac 12. But other than that, there's almost no way that the Cougs and the Beavs stay in the party--according to them.
To quote a sports guy at one of the TV stations who's a friend of mine, "Everyone up here feels like we're about to get thrown out of the club."
Really crazy times. They've been 'in the club' for over 100 years.
