Why do you think OSU's would be "pitiful?"
Compared with UO, OSU has over 10,000 more students, 60+% more grad students, more research money, far more alumni, etc. Plus it is one of only three universities that are land grant, sea grant, space grant, and sun grant (the other two being Penn State & Cornell).
The one advantage UO has over OSU is 84 yr old Phil Knight's deep pockets. Will that continue after his demise?
