Will it though? I hate it for all those reasons, but the NFL does pretty well despite not having teams everywhere
My guess is that's what they are thinking. Because the NFL dwarfs College Football in popularity.

The only reason people watch sub par football (what CFB is) is because of the broad tie to alma maters
