Well, I would, but I agree most wouldn't
I actually like Utah more than most posters here - good memories growing up rooting for them with my Dad (he's an alum), so was a big Utah fan until I went to BYU.
And when the NFL was consolidating I bet a lot of teams left disappointed fanbases. The Canton Bulldogs and Dayton Triangles didn't all become fans of Cleveland overnight... but I can't think of the last time I met a Triangles fan.
To be honest, I agree with you and don't even believe that... but it's what I think the power-that-be may be thinking

Unless players like Apple or Netflix get involved. Heck CBS and NBC could make a difference as well especially if

Will it though? I hate it for all those reasons, but the NFL does pretty well despite not having teams everywhere

The only reason people watch sub par football (what CFB is) is because of the broad tie to alma maters
