Not necessarily, the transfer portal isn't kind to lower rated hs recruits who
don't see the floor during their year or two, even if it was a higher level D1 school.
Whether Pope was "right" will depend in how Erickson does at SLCC and if he can pick up a decent D1 offer after next year.
Bottomline, the portal absolutely sucks for high school and college players who aren't highly sought after recruits. D1 coaches aren't beating down the doors of the end of bench transfers, or the high school kid who needs someone to take a chance on them(1, 2, maybe even some 3 star recruits).
