The question is about validity and prestige.

BYU fan argument is Utah has no brand.

Almost every other indicator says something different.

We still see in the most objective polls from outside perspectives, Utah is consistently ranked higher than other schools with similar records.

Even above BYU in the last few polls, despite BYU having beaten Utah.

I don’t see how you can argue against that.

You mentioned schools in 2019 that were ranked ahead of Utah that year that are already part of the power 2 or the elite of the big 12.

Auburn, Iowa and Baylor are all bigger and better brands. Deep in areas where football‘s religion.

That doesn’t make the argument any different though.

The argument is that Utah brand - or a lowly MW, USU-like brand — is so
low it doesn’t add or contribute to the whole of the B12.

To support that argument, there should be at least 4-5 big 12 teams ranked higher in each of the last 5-7 years.

You don’t see that. You see Utah ahead of all but 1-2. Now ahead of all of them in preseason polls.

Interesting comment about the pollsters. Because that’s probably the most objective way to measure true brand value.

And even if you try to knock the validity of the voters, most of those polls are pretty consistent with the computer rankings and FPI.

Or you just go on and read the reporters, writers or other fan bases in the big 12 who would live to have Utah.

They’re gonna compare Utah more to second tier power five schools.
