RE: Ok so when do we start?
Q:Do we go back to the native times when natives were killing natives and start reparations for native tribes wronged by other tribes?

A: No, that would be dumb. If the US government weren't involved between inter-tribal warfare then what's the logic of starting the reparations point before US government involvement.

Q: Do we just start that when the white man got here?

A: Depends on if that white man was working on his own behalf or on behalf a particular government.

"I get it. History is full of atrocities. But you can’t take from one group today to advantage another for wrong that’s happened in the past. It can’t be done."

I can agree with you that the government shouldn't provide handouts* without some sort of level of performance expectation. It's just throwing money away. If there's a lack of accountability of funds provided there's a higher likelihood of fraud, waste, and abuse.

The government invests in all sorts of projects that advantages whomever the contractor is that wins the contract. There's always going to be winners or losers. I think it is more important to avoid fraud, waste, and abuse than it is to worry so much about one group being advantaged over another. If we could eliminate fraud, waste, and abuse there'd probably be plenty of funding to go around for everyone.

"And again I fervently advise anyone on here who disagrees with my position to give more freely of your own money to Native American students!"

Yeah we are. It's called taxes. The taxpayers of UT will be paying the cost of the NA students getting free tuition. If they are so opposed to the taxes going to pay for the NA students free tuition they can write their state representative and get some legislation to bar taxes to pay for such things.

"There nothing stopping you! All these programs and funds don’t have to come from taxpayers, it can come straight out of all of your own wallets!"

Why pay out of your own pocket when it is already coming out of your own pocket via taxes?

"I know you all have such big hearts right?"

It is fairly normal sized from what I imagine.

"So instead of paying your kids tuition when he/she gets ready for school down the road why don’t you take that money and pay a Native kids tuition?"

Because NA kids tuition is already being paid for by taxes?

"Sounds good right? Oh!!! but that’s right, you want your kid to get an education, just not the poor white kid from the dead coal mining town? He can just figure it out on his on because he’s white?"

Are poor white kids unable to get Pell grants? Pretty sure there's no stipulation on race / ethnicity when it comes to Pell grants.

I don't think anyone on CB really cares if poor _______ kids are provide some means to getting to college. I think it could end up in being a waste due to ______ kid being unprepared for college. There should be some sort of performance expectation mentioned earlier to avoid waste. Regardless of whether you poor, protected minority, LGBTQ+, etc. the government ( Local, State, or Fed ) should've give away money without some sort of level of performance expectation.
