It sounds like NBC plans to get the B1G TV contract by:

Modeling their Saturday CFB coverage after their Sunday NFL coverage. The Saturday coverage would also include their contracted games with ND not that ND would join the B1G.

They worded this awkwardly, "NBC is proposing a strategy that calls for back-to-back, prime-time Big Ten and NFL games on Saturday and Sunday nights, said sources", but what they meant was CFB slate on Saturday with NFL slate on Sunday.

I believe the bullet points clear up the intent:

-"NBC is pitching a fall Saturday football schedule that       includes triple-header coverage of Big Ten games on       Fox, CBS, and NBC from early afternoon to night.

-The slate would be followed by NBC’s “Sunday Night          Football,” the most-watched show in prime time for a        record 11 straight years."

I wonder if they will have overlapping games with blackout areas as well or if the will broadcast the same three games nationwide. Either way it puts B1G FB in every home as these channels can be picked up without cable.
