This isn’t true at all. Fan interest is a perfect example of a game that is not “zero-sum”. Especially within the same
conference.

It may be the case that total conference wins are limited for teams within the same conference, but that’s not fan interest, attendance etc.

Utah is a good example. It moved from an environment where it won the vast majority of its conference games to one where it’s won about 57% of its conference games. Total win percentage is obviously lower too. Has attendance and fan interest gone down too?

Obviously not.
