When Utah first joined the conference, fans were naturally more forgiving of losing a few games. Games were sold out because of the excitement of playing higher level football. Over the years, Utah has now had increasing success and those win percentage is have gone up and therefore fan interest has remained the same.
If Utah was only winning 50% or less of its games, it’s interest levels would drop. As I’ve mentioned before, this is a team that ranks 8th in the country in the number of weeks spent in the college football playoff rankings. That keeps interest high.
There are not very many teams across the country that generally finish in the bottom half of their conference and sell out every one of their games. There are going to be teams that generally finish in the bottom half of the big 12 that weren’t used to doing that in the past. It’s the nature of the game.
