A few lessons learned:
The details of your policy matter (replacement cost vs replacement value vs code coverage are not the same)
Adjusters usually look for coverage. The suits back in the office is usually where resistance to payment originates
Insurance companies will/do listen to “appeals.” You may have to back it up with multiple opinions/bids that you solicit, but they usually end up paying attention
Last resort: tell them you plan to get a public adjuster, attorney and/or contact the state insurance commissioner. That will absolutely get their attention but you have to follow through so it’s a last resort.
Every claims takes way longer than it should. It sucks but it’s reality.
