too. That was mostly because we had signed Ben Olson and people were much more pumped about him. Beck was an afterthought and they said he wasn’t going to play.

It felt even pretty personal to me because I knew the skill set he had, how smart he was, how he understood facets of the game, studied football more than about anyone, out-practiced pretty much everyone. And it seemed like everyone I talked to thought I was a biased idiot.

I think Conover is similar. Unproven despite high-school ability. And we have reason to be excited about someone else right now, so he’s derided by some if only based on comparison. I hope he shoes out similarly.

What really bugged me is that many acted that way even when Olson wasn’t in the picture. Some really until most of Beck’s senior year was played. People still said he didn’t have “it” until he showed a lot of “it” against TCU, Utah and then dominated Oregon more than even the score showed.

Conover has shown most of the tools. Would love to see him put it together and continue an impressive line of recent QBs
