Throughout this whole thread, there seems to be a common element missing
The golden rule. For those of you that don’t know what that means, it means treat other people how you would like to be treated.

For example, if someone gives two weeks notice and due to competitive issues we need them out the door, I insist that we always pay them for their time. It’s the right thing to do. Why? Because that’s how I would want to be treated.

The last two or three jobs I’ve quit, I’ve made every attempt to give as much notice as possible. It is worked out where I gave months of notice. Why? Because that’s how I would want to be treated.

You never go wrong with the golden rule. As to the OP, I can understand a frustrated reaction. As an alternative, you might look at amending your employee handbook. One of the things I’ve seen in many places is that if an employee doesn’t give at least two weeks notice they aren’t paid their accrued vacation. It’s less about the accrued vacation and more about educating folks about how to quit your job.

Reading through this thread, there’s so much toxicity. What an awful way to go about life. You never go wrong being kind.
