Since Zach Wilson committed, I thought he’d be the one to lead us to victory over the Utes. When we lost twice with him (once in absolutely excruciating fashion) it was like reading the Harry Potter series - I believed he was the one but he just kept coming up short, eventually leaving the program winless against the Utes (like when Harry gets crushed by Voldemort over and over).
Then today I was watching The Cut from last year’s BYU-Utah game and I saw Samson catch his touchdown and celebrate after, with Greg Wrubel pointing out he was a Utah transfer. And it occurred to me - Samson is Neville Longbottom. He destroyed the final horcrux and restored order to the galaxy.
Like with Neville, I didn’t see it coming, but it’s what happened.
Fall can’t come soon enough.
