I want to plant a tree 2 feet from my driveway and 2 feet away from my neighbor’s driveway. The tree is small at first, but the roots will spread and be a 20 foot tall tree in 10 years. He said he doesn’t want a tree because he is worried about it lifting or cracking a sidewalk or lifting a utility box that is on his property that he will thinks he will be liable for. He’s mostly wrong on both accounts.

Another option is to put a smaller tree, which is not what I want. But it keeps peace the the neighbor.

Should I plant the large tree anyways, or abandon the idea?
