you should check out the Walt Disney Family Museum. My wife and I went there a few weeks ago and it was incredible. Even if you just like history or learning about successful individuals or museums in general, you'd likely enjoy this place as it was very well done.

The museum was developed by his daughter, Diane Disney Miller (she passed in 2013), who lived in Napa and wanted the museum near her. The museum follows his personal and work-life from birth to death. They did an incredible job of detailing his childhood, marriage, family, creation of Mickey, subsequent Disney animation company, the Disney company, and Disneyland. It was so immersive that by the end when they talk about his death I even got a little emotional.

I thought it was going to be a small museum that we could run through in an hour. But we were about 90 minutes into the museum and asked one of the employees how much more is left and she said we were about halfway through! I wish I would have had another hour or so but we had to get going. I'm one who likes to read and listen to everything so it might take you less time.

It's in the Presidio of San Francisco near the wharf so you can hit several sight-seeing spots during your visit. It was $25 a person and you can upgrade for other exhibits they have running at different times of the year. Depending on the time of year you go, you might need a reservation. We just did walk-up tickets, no problem.

Probably not great for younger than 12 years old unless you just want to run through it in less than an hour. Some parts younger kids would enjoy but there's a lot they might be bored with. Even older kids will likely get bored if they don't like museums.
