BIG12FAMILY Walk-on
My Preseason Ranking the Big14 as if the new four teams were added this season.
How I would rank the current Big12 including the four additional teams (set to join in 2023) if they were all starting the 2022 season together.

1. Baylor - #1 but not by much. When you are the defending B12 Champs, you get the benefit of the doubt until its proven otherwise on the field. Solid, solid, solid football team.

2. Oklahoma - I mean, come on. It's OKLAHOMA. It will be interesting to see if there is a drop off under the new coach/QB

3. Oklahoma State - Hard not to respect that defense, so close to a playoff appearance last season.

4. Cincinnati - Who wouldn't want that coach? They would be #1 if they still had Desmond Ridder. This season, if they win that first game against Arkansas, they SHOULD run the table on a schedule that is far easier than last year's. I doubt an undefeated Cincinnati could make it into the playoffs again, unless Arkansas loses to Cincinnati and somehow runs the table in the SEC.

5. Texas - Boooo! "Talented" enough to beat Georgia. "Texas" enough to lose to Kansas. NIL advantages are hard to ignore. We'll see.

6. BYU - How different does last season look if BYU beats Baylor? I don't need to tell COUGARBOARD what BYU can do.

7. Kansas State - Is it wrong that I find myself rooting for K-State simply because I've enjoyed listening to John Kurtz this past year? Don't worry Gold and Blue Dude, I got something for you WAY down the list.

8. Texas Tech - They provide a baseline NIL payout to their entire roster. There HAS BEEN an upswing in recruiting as a result. Middle of the pack team, but they will be a problem moving forward. West Texas Oil NIL, money talks.

9. UCF - These guys are recruiting 4-star players out of Florida recently as if they were Florida State of old. Huge enrollment. Glamorous location. It will take time for them to adjust the grind of a more competitive conference than the AAC, but not much time. UCF may very well rise to become a yearly top three team of the future Big12.

10. Iowa State - Right about now is where it becomes obvious of simply HOW GOOD the Big12 is. Iowa State, ranked behind nine other teams, is still good enough to win the B12. Most of these teams could win the B12. How is the 10th best Pac10 team looking soon? OHHHHH.... U of Arizona. OUCH.

11. TCU - They poached the SMU coach who was out-coaching Gary Patterson. We don't know if he is as good as his SMU performance would indicate. It is possible TCU was simply underutilized under an old coach on cruise control. Remember how dangerous TCU was a few seasons back?

12. West Virginia - Is it wrong that I find myself rooting against WV simply because I haven't enjoyed listening to Gold and Blue Dude this past year? No hard feelings, just not my favorite. I love West Virginia, even at #12, this is a really dangerous team.

13. Houston - I know they are supposed to be better than #13. I know nationally there is a lot of respect for them this season. But until I see them grind with the big boys, I just can't put them ahead of anyone else.

14. Kansas - This is why I want Arizona. Kansas vs Arizona, (BASKETBALL GOLD!) and you never know from one year to the next who will soak up the most L's. (L soaking is an important role, see Alabama and Vandy)

Just the flawed opinion of a life long B12 guy, no way anyone will agree with all of it. Just wanting to throw a little Friday morning fun your way as we wait for the Pac 8 to crumble.

How would you rank them?
