Did you drive over and check out the fish hatchery towards Alison point? We were there last week and there are millions of pink salmon returning to spawn now. The whole ocean is dark with fish for hundreds of yards out from the mouth of the stream. Bunches of sea lions, bald eagles always over there. We usually see bears over there, too. Generally black bears, but we saw a brown bear last week snacking on the fish.
If you like fishing, go a mile or 2 past the hatchery and fish along the coast. Just use a size 4 vibrant and you'll get plenty of pinks (silvers might be getting close by now but won't be in thick for another week or 2).
We like to eat at The Fat Mermaid or The Nat Shack.
Assuming you drove into town, you probably saw the waterfalls on your way in. The glacier there outside of town is accessible. You can get pretty close, maybe even get out on it, though we never have.
