Though, some say, "Sell by" with a date, e.g., Kirkland, and others say,
"Best if Used by" and a date, e.g., Smiths. Seems they are suggesting a difference.

I use it until it tastes funny

The date's only a guideline. Smell it to find out if it's actually bad or not.

When our milk is near or at the expiration date, I pour some in a glass and smell and/or taste it. Don't judge...

Ever since I accidentally drank the chunky milk I will sniff for every glass.

I only use that date when purchasing. After that it is always a use until it

That is a sell by date. Not expiration date

This. It’s fine for a few more days.

All our milks say best by, not sell by

‘Best by’ does not man ‘expiration’. Just a potential not to taste ideal

Actual expiration depends on the temperature
