Reminded what a farce the CFP rankings were last season
I was watching the BYU v USC game from last year and saw a graphic that showed Utah to play in the P12 Championship game (this was Thanksgiving weekend last year). The graphic showed Utah ranked #19.
That means that Utah, ranked #19 the last week of the regular season magically jumped 8 spots to #11 over the next two-week period by beating the same team for a second time.
A 3-loss Utah team was contractually obligated to go the the Rose Bowl and so the CFP had to juice their ranking in order for them to "qualify" for that NY6 bowl.
Look at all the other rankings. No other school went up more than 4 spots over those two weeks.
Utah jumped 8 spots. Silly.
