you have to be careful, because some courses or some tournaments will have local rules prohibiting practice
to speed up play. It’s common in tournaments to have this rule, which is why in high school golf you’re almost always told to not practice between holes.

If playing in a tournament, it is best to ask or just not do it to be safe. Also you have to be careful because you’re playing partner may determine what slowing down pace of play means differently than you.

If you’re playing with friends, no big deal unless your friends are losers….it is within the rules.
