1. Casey Clinger (7th overall, 23:30) - solid run, good to see him back after he sat out a race due to illness; last season finished 8th at Pre-Nats and 8th at NCAAs
2. Joey Nokes (10th, 23:36) - this kid continues to show he’s legit; now 18 months removed from his mission he was in 2nd in this race through 7k; has shown steady improvement, hopefully he doesn’t peak too soon
3. Christian Allen (11th, 23:39) - solid run for this 2x cross-country All-American; hoping he can make top 10 at NCAAs
4. Davin Thompson (20th, 23:47) - BYU needs Davin and his twin Creed to make a big jump from last season, which they seem to be doing; last season he was 1:40 behind Casey Clinger at Pre-Nats, and this year he was only 17 seconds
5. Creed Thompson (27th, 23:52) - showing really good improvement; last season he was 1:12 behind Casey Clinger at Pre-Nats, and this year he was only 22 seconds
6. Justin Hartshorn (36th, 23:59) - very unheralded but is making steady improvement; wasn’t fast enough to run in the big races last season but finished as our #6
7. Kenneth Rooks (51st, 24:10) - our All-American Steeplechaser I was hoping would battle for a top five spot; decent race for him and only 18 seconds from being top five
8. Brandon Garnica (80th, 24:27) - perhaps the biggest disappointment of the day; expected to be our sure-fire #3, not sure if he is suffering/recovering from something
9. Zachary Erikson (85th, 24:30) - decent race, got back from his mission in July 2021
10. Luke Grundvig (105th, 24:43) - decent race for the RM who got back in January
11. Land Lambert (121st, 24:54) - the biggest surprise for me; I’d never heard of him before I saw his name show up in the results; a true freshman walk-on from Colorado who could contribute in the future
