There were a lot more students than I expected when we arrived at 9:40, so that bodes well for a loud (but respectful!) crowd tonight. We had plenty of donuts and hot chocolate for all that wanted them. The students were grateful for the hot chocolate because some had been out there awhile, and it was a bit chilly this morning. Thankfully, we had plenty of all.
We just had a small crew this morning (my two youngest boys, RebelScum and I), but we served everybody who wanted something.
We always get asked if we are a community group. I make sure to tell them, no, this is Cougar fans from Cougarboard who have donated because we love the ROC, and we especially love how they help us win games at home. I can’t emphasize enough how grateful they all are. They appreciate support and love in the form of warm donuts and hot chocolate from regular BYU fans like all of you.
So you know, I’ve mostly run out of donations. However, there are some new wrinkles, so before I start accepting more, I need to work out a few things.
First issue, the Utah State game is at 6:00 pm on a Thursday. I’m just not going to be able to take time out of the work day to be there in time to make a difference, so I think I’m just going to have to miss that one. Sorry, everyone, especially the students.
Next issue, Krispy Kreme bumped up the number of donuts I need to buy in order to get the discount to 35 dozen, but next month that is going up to 50 dozen. It really doesn’t make sense to buy that many, even if I have the donation money, because it’s about 15 to 20 dozen more than we need. I will again look into the possibility of becoming an approved vendor so that we can possibly go back to pancakes. If anybody has other ideas, or ways to help me in this process, please let me know.
