ran the Eagle Island course in 17:25 on Saturday destroying IF phenom Nelah Roberts to win the elite section at the Bob Firman Invitational. For an indicator current BYU XC runner #2 and last year NCAA finalist in 3000 Steeplechase Lexi Halladay, who ran the Eagle Island course 2-3 times each season, only ran faster than 17:25 once, where she ran 17:20, and that was with a high end competitor who ran with her for more than half the race. Hedegren was all alone by 1000 meters.

I don't know if Roberts and Hedegren are aiming to run at BYU, but it won't surprise me if they end up as teammates on some really capable XC teams in 3-6 years.
