Skeptical Optimist Intervention Needed
A first on a flight today. About 20 minutes after takeoff, the captain comes on
the PA and says that the brakes overheated during taxi and that they weren’t cooling down, so we needed lower altitude and slow down. He descended and slowed down and then lowered the landing gear for about 5 minutes, then raised them back up and sped back up. I’m guessing we were at about 10,000 feet.

Any pilots want to comment? Seemed pretty strange to me, and I’ve be on a ton of flights.
