I tend to think they are mostly pawns being used to push forward industry execs
Agendas. Taylor Swift fits into this group as well.
That's not to say they haven't been brainwashed and manipulated to believe the lies and end up saying and doing dumb things of their own volition, but I think it started by selling their souls to an industry mostly motivated by selfish interests.
