This is interesting on achievement to fight depression and increase happiness
Somebody posted this link, honestly I cant remember if it was here on CB or somewhere else, so I cant give appropriate credit. But while this isnt entirely groundbreaking it was interesting to hear a Henry Rollins speak so bluntly about using achievement - small or big - as a way to deal with his depression and increase his happiness.
I have a son who suffers from depression and for him this really seems to apply - when he is really suffering just a small achievement followed by another small achievement, it really helps to fight his depression. Its a pretty awesome thing to hear him say "I'm proud of myself" after doing a few things to fight the depression.
Anyway, its Joe Rogan and Henry Rollins but it seems pretty honest and rings true to me. The whole clip is 6 minutes but starting at the 4.27 or so mark is the part that resonated with me.
****** Warning - if you start at the 0 second mark there is an F bomb in the first 5 secconds.
