Corn Pop Intervention Needed
So is Louis Riddick an uneducated fan who doesn't know what he's talking about?
Why do I get the feeling that it would have taken Riddick minutes to make adjustments in the first quarter to counter what USU was doing on offense?

I loved that he didn't hold back, just brutal honesty in what he was seeing. If BYU is going to line up play after play after play outmanned in the box, why wouldn't any team just keep handing the ball off for first downs? And then there's this, which we saw against Baylor, Oregon, Wyoming, and now USU: multiple plays per game where our d-line lines up unbalanced. You might get away with that on a passing down, but these have been short yardage downs against teams that are getting positive yardage in the run game. But not only are we unbalanced to one side, but many times we've been unbalanced to their weak side. So let me get this straight. At times our answer to another team's run game that is gashing us left and right is to line up 1 DE against a center, guard, tackle, AND TE, and we expect that 1 DE to hold the line?

On top of that, we had this from the defense last night:

Unnecessary Roughness in the red zone
Offsides on a 3rd and 5 (penalty declined because the pass gained 6 yards on a free play)
Unsportsman Like on 4th and 2 (The stats guys mark it as a 3rd and 2 penalty, but the 3rd and 2 play was already over and we tossed a shoe)
Offsides on a 4th and 1 (the second 4th down conversion by undisciplined defensive penalty on the same drive)

The above was just the 1st quarter. You would expect that kind of crap from a 1-3 G5 team that's lost to Weber St and UNLV (both at home) the previous two weeks and is starting an inexperienced QB with accuracy issues.

The D was unprepared, undisciplined, and couple that with the absolute refusal to make any adjustments till after halftime.....It's an F grade. "But they played mostly good in the second half!" Great, awesome, but they were still unprepared, undisciplined, and displayed a complete inability to make in-game, not in half, but in-game adjustments. That's unacceptable and deserving of an F grade. If a DC is incapable of making drive by drive adjustments, hand the baton to somebody else. (I didn't even yet mention the softest tackle attempt ever by Hanneman).

And yes, the offense deserves a similar diatribe. For the 4th week in a row the offense didn't really get going until right before halftime. They were undisciplined with numerous false starts AT HOME. Kalani needs to work his butt off this week and have his team prepared to actually start a game, not just finish one, or we'll be 4-3 just over two weeks from now. Give the offense a D- for recovering to be not just good but lights out in the 2nd half. But being that unprepared to start a game for the 4th straight week is very concerning.

And there you go. That's my bucket of sunshine to start the day.
