I grew up in SoCal around many poly’s and have surfed/followed surfing my whole life so I feel like for a haole I’ve got a good handle on the phonetics, but this has me stumped. Admittedly I’ve never studied the language, just been exposed to it all my life.

Is it really pronounced UiUNgalelei or is it just a bunch of people saying it wrong and following the masses who say it that way?
