Currently BYU is #16 and playing unranked, 2-2 Notre Dame.

Even with a win, it's tough to move up this week. USC and Tennessee are far enough ahead to stay ahead even with a loss, as is likely Penn St, given the quality of the opponent.

Utah losing would drop them behind BYU...but would probably bump UCLA over us. The TCU/Kansas winner could also jump BYU. So, except for NC State and the truly out-of-nowhere losses, there's just not a lot of chance to move up, even if we beat up on Notre Dame.

Of course it doesn't help that Notre Dame isn't great. If we beat them, they're 2-3 and considered terrible. If we lose, then they're 3-2 and back on the right track after a bad start. Not fair, but they're only considered decent if they beat us.
