The real issue with EV's... Its not a hardware problem, its a software issue.
Some people see EV's as a government conspiracy..
Some people see EV's as an insult to manhood..
Some people just can't handle any type of change or paradigm shift..
.. but if you put all of that aside, there is a HUGE issue with EV's. The (majority of) companies that build cars are not software companies, they are not even in the tech sector.
If you exclude Tesla and the Chinese (BYD), VW is the next highest EV manufacturer globally by sales. However, Volkswagen is struggling trying to become a software company. Its so bad, in the past they have had to park finished ID.3's and ID.4's in storage lots because they couldn't get the software to work (or even install).
What's even crazier is that VW is the only other company that currently offers 'over-the-air' software updates other than Tesla. However, they have yet to push out any update (and the ID.4 came out in 2020). Ford, Hyundai/Kia, GM, BMW, and Audi are all rushing (struggling) to figure out how to do OS upgrades to their cars. Ford will probably be the next company to have true OTA updates, but there is no current date.
Tesla, Rivian, and Lucid are all tech startup companies. Until the mainstream auto manufacturers start investing in software development they will continue to be dinosaurs. It's why companies like Apple and Google are rushing to release their enhanced versions of CarPlay and Android Auto.
Until then it's like playing 'Modern Warfare' on a Pentium 2...
