Recommendations for health insurance to bridge the gap between jobs
I need family health insurance - will likely only be for the month of December. Healthcare.gov quoted me over $1K/month, but there have to be better options than that.
Have any of you used a plan that you recommend?

I think you can go back and get cobra after the fact. I am not sure how

I can get Cobra, but it’s over $2K/month.

I am saying don't get COBRA unless something catastrophic happens. Like you can opt in after the fact I think.

This is what I would do. But you need to make the “election” on time to keep your COBRA option.

You can buy it if you find you need it. Go without and if something comes you can buy it after the fact.

Right, so pay it after the fact only if you had a catastrophy. It’s retroactive for a certain time period.

Got it - thanks.

If it is only a month or two I think you can go “without” and then use Cobra if you need it. Read the fine print

As I understand it, this will work.

If I recall when I was in between jobs I had 30 days to decide to get Cobra

It's 60 days and it's retroactive

You aren't going to get better than that quote. Anything cheaper is going to

We used a Christian medical share for a summer once. IIRC it was competitive.
