The situation is that the Patriots were the one team this year that Zach's
teammates wanted most to beat. In the first matchup, it was two completely idiotic throws by Zach that literally cost them the game. The Jets win that game if not for those completely boneheaded throws.

Fine, they say, "Zach, you had a bad day. Let's keep fighting and try again."

And what happens? An objectively even worse day for Zach as he "leads" a completely inept offense to 3 total points and 2, count them 2 second half yards.

That's some pretty bad mojo all by itself, but Zach wasn't done. Rather than just take ownership, pull a Tebow and declare he let the team down, declare he's going to work harder than ever before to make sure such an inept performance never happens again, he shrugs it off and declares he didn't let down his defense that had just turned in an incredible performance against the team they most wanted to beat, and yet they still lost.

It's that last part that got him not just benched, but put in timeout until he can figure out what it means to be a team leader.
