response in the post game presser landed. However, I have seen nothing from Zach’s play to make me have any realistic hope that he will remain a starter in this league for the next decade.
Zach caught lightning in a bottle during the Covid year. Between poor competition and a search for the next Mahomes/Rodgers-like playmaker with the ability to make unique throws and extend series with his legs, the Jets bit. I believe the Jets will bring in a proven veteran in the off-season who knows Lafleur’s offense (see Jimmy Garropolo) and tell Zach it is an open competition. Zach will ride out years 3&4 as a backup and not have his year 5 option picked up. As Baker, Darnold, and Rosen all learned recently, this league doesn’t have the patience to wait for players to develop like they once did.
