of athlete that formed the basis of his roster when he came in. He also was burdened with a lot of athletes when he got here — that he never would've signed as scholarship players in the first place.
These three scholarshipped RMs on our current roster (together w Frosh Moore) — definitely will help with stabilizing things in the near future. Which I think was always Pope's goal. It's only his fourth year, after all, & it's become clear I think that he was not given the liberty of gutting the roster like many new HCs are free to do upon arrival.
But besides these guys, we've also benefited from a number of multi-year transfers (probably 4 for SJ, 3 for AB, Gideon, & hopefully Robinson, & 2 for Waterman (who they originally hoped to get a 3rd year for)). I think Pope has deliberately resisted building too much on single-year players.
I do think Pope will continue to hunt for single-year transfers going forward — but in the future he'll limit his searches to only high-end players. And will rarely sign more than one every couple classes or so.
