They held the ball while the clock was reset. The timeout helped BYU 0 and was a benefit to Stanford.

The refs were holding the ball to reset the clock and gave Stanford way too...

They had to reset the clock. Stanford still did the firedrill and would have had to snap immediately. But the timeout
