My view of soccer as a guy who watches rarely...
it seems almost completely random. The better team could have one breakdown on defense and the far worse team scores. It seems like upsets should be far more common than other sports. Does it actually play out that way? Sincerely asking.

On neutral fields, yes. Especially if the lesser team can make it to PKs.
