Notwithstanding the delivery of the original post, because I think we'd both agree that it could have been more skillfully delivered, but I'd disagree that we should reject messages because they convey a rebuke of sorts of our own behavior.

This is going to evolve into a religious conversation, and I apologize, but isn't that exactly what Christ did; basically calling everyone to repentance?

Again, I'm not comparing the OP to Christ, but simply focused on the concept of self-improvement.

Is Christ's message divisive? Absolutely. Should that stop him from delivering it? Or us from accepting it?
