What will life be like in 20-30 years?
Will WFH cause a revitalization of small town America. Housing, food, utilities, services are all generally cheaper in small town areas
Will we become more sustainable? Growing our own food, utilizing solar and small scale wind for each house?
Will we gradually move away from the US car culture as they become more and more expensive along with the energy to move them?
Will small towns and urban areas become once again bike friendly?
What about education? Will remote learning go from a pandemic created necessity to a huge economic win while lower the cost of education significantly? Do we really need to build new schools?
Housing, can we even fix the issue? There is t a shortage of land, heck there is enough land currently cover in parking lots to build enough multistory housing complexes for 100 years
What will happen to the suburbs?
When I retired we went from two cars to one. But with all the Covid caused changes and habits. There are times when I wonder if I really need a car. My groceries are delivered to my door, my garden supplies a huge amount of my food.
It is a mile to the mall, which I haven’t been inside of for 5 years now. In a 5 mile radius there is everything I basically need from schools to churches, restaurants, banks, universities. Would a e-bike solve 90% of my transportation needs? Could others live like that?
All I know is the future will be far different from what the past 20 years have been. Change is the only constant
